Our Lady of Sorrows

O most holy Virgin, Mother of our Lord Jesus Christ: by the overwhelming grief you experienced when you witnessed the martyrdom, the crucifixion, and death of your divine Son, look upon me with eyes of compassion, and awaken in my heart a tender commiseration for those sufferings, as well as a sincere detestation of my sins, in order that being disengaged from all undue affection for the passing joys of this earth, I may sigh after the eternal Jerusalem, and that henceforward all my thoughts and all my actions may be directed towards this one most desirable object. Honor, glory, and love to our divine Lord Jesus, and to the holy and immaculate Mother of God. Amen.

Bl. Hermann of Reichenau

Hail, holy Queen, mother of Mercy.
Hail, our life, our sweetness and our hope.
To thee do we cry,
poor banished children of Eve;
to thee do we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping,
in this vale of tears.
Turn then, most gracious advocate,
thine eyes of mercy toward us;
and after this our exile, show unto us
the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving,
O sweet virgin Mary.

Our Intentions for the Month of May

  • During Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month, we pray for those living with cystic fibrosis, their families, and for the soul of our contributor Emily DeArdo.
  • During Mental Health Awareness Month, we pray for those in our community struggling with their mental health. May they receive the physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual help they need.
  • We pray along with Pope Francis’ May intention for the formation of seminarians and religious. As part of their formation, may they learn the value of persons with disabilities and how to help create a more welcoming and inclusive Church.
  • Prayers of thanksgiving for our generous donors.
  • For our writers and contributors.

It is becoming for you, O Mary, to be mindful of us, as you stand near Him who bestowed upon you all graces, for you are the Mother of God and our Queen. Come to our aid for the sake of the King, the Lord God and Master Who was born of you. For this reason you are called “full of grace.” Be mindful of us, most holy Virgin, and bestow on us gifts from the riches of your graces, O Virgin, full of grace.
